Is It Expensive to Race a Micro Sprint Car?

Micro sprint car racing can be enjoyed by all ages. It is typical to have 3 classes: Beginner, Box Stock and the Open Series. The beginner series is for youngsters starting at around age 6 and you can join the Open class as early as age 13 or 14.

Initial Investment:

Car: Prices can vary depending on if you buy new or used:

  • A used “roller ” car (car without engine) – $2000-$5000 (Canadian dollars)
  •  A complete used car – approximately $6000
  • Open used – approximately $8000
  • New cars can start around $10 000 and upwards.

Engine:

  • A basic used engine starts around $600, a new engine $1400
  • a high performance engine used $2500 and new $18 000

Recurring Costs:

  • Track Fees: Entry fees for races vary depending on the track and series. Expect to pay anywhere from $110 to $200.
  • Maintenance Fees: Regular maintenance is crucial for safety and performance. Parts wear and tear, tires, oil changes, and potential repairs after accidents.
  • Transportation: Hauling your car to and from races can add up.  Consider trailer rental or purchase costs.
